DE-BOARDING OF BOARDING SCHOOLS A RIGHT STEP TO PROTECT STUDENTS AGAINSTS KIDNAPPING AND TERROR ATTACKS

Of recent the Adamawa state government has directed for DE-boarding of 30 secondary schools, to protect the students and the schools against any security challenge that may arise as a result of the activities of insurgents or kidnappers as being experienced some parts of the country .

In some states in the north east, north west and the north central students were kidnapped in Mass to the level that analysts say the crime has gotten out of hand.

All kidnapping targeted one thing that is demanding for Ransom.

In 2014 chibok school girls were kidnapped, in 2018 was Dapchi girls. From 2020 to date not less than 10 schools were attacked and students were kidnapped in Mass from all level of educational pursuits.

In kankara, katsina state it was secondary School students so also in Niger state. In Zamfara and Kaduna high levels of learning were attacked, students of the schools were kidnapped. In most occasion money was paid before the release of the kidnapped victims

Bearing in mind on the situation, the Adamawa state government decided to suspend boarding in 30 schools across the state.

It is on record that over 900,000 students are out of school in the north east Because their schools were attacked by either Boko Haram or one form of crisis or the other. And now de-boarding arises.  The question is what will happen to the academic pursuit of the affected students? Looking at  most of them are learning outside their community.

The commissioner of education, Adamawa state Wilbina Jackson in one fora said e-learning has been introduced to cater for the students and also the safe schools program in collaboration with NGOs have designed an aggressive approach to hasten the program

Already the affected schools have observed the executive order what is left now is to see how the affected students will continue with their education in line with the provision of the laws of the land.

In this regard the efforts of the Adamawa state government is highly commendable, because prevention is better than cure
