English Language Not a Scale For Intelligence Weighing

A student Promoting The Use Of Local Language For Our Educational Development In Nigeria

It is common to see or to hear people laughing at someone because he can’t speak good English. That he is being considered not intelligent for poor pronouncements of some words in English.

In the southern region of the country some men or women don’t get the respect they deserved in life because of their tongue tune to English pronouncement. No wonder some parents prepare their wards early to learn and speak only English than their mother tongue. As a result many languages were endangered.

However such attitude has immensely affected our socioeconomic development because our youth can’t produce anything that can improve the nation’s well being

Today China and the rest of the Asian Tigers have dominated African markets with their goods. Goods that they produced through learning technology by their languages forcing us to buy the products because of high demand from our end

The priority given to perfection of English by most of us is not good to our progress that today we loss in the following manner

·         That our culture is fading

·         That we have lost a lot of time learning somebody’s language and culture instead of promoting ours

·         That we will continue to be backward if we did not address the problem

Is high time for us to look inward to address the problem. By teaching our wards our language and stop looking down at people because of their weakness in English language. Because no language is greater than the other, all languages are equal.

Wwe all need to know that Speaking English doesn’t mean a person is perfect or intelligence, let’s know that English is just a language.
