KIDNAPPING: A MANIFEST OF OUR CORRUPT PRACTICES

Cases of kidnapping in Nigeria is growing day by day in a nutshell is getting out of hand.

Kidnappers have successfully abducted all class of people that is from the poor up to the rich.

Kidnapping started in Nigeria from oil producing areas later spread out to other regions of the country.

All institutions of human endeavor have in one way or the other suffered from the consequences of kidnapping. Schools, Army formations, the police, the market, Parks, even worship centers have their share of this dangerous act.

The old, young, male or female, non is spared. Many were killed, a lot are suffering from one form of injury or the other. Some are leaving with a trauma. It is unfortunate

Why the ugly act?

Some kidnappers apprehended gave poor excuses, but experts attributed their confessions as an act of Drug Abuse. That they’ve act under the influence of drugs. Because of their stupidity they were used by those behind the scene. Some kidnapped victims collect millions of Naira and end up getting 10,000 to 200,000 Naira only while those behind get the rest.

The question is why so?

Where are they getting the arm and ammunition from?

If caught who is bailing them?

There are many questions that need answers.

It is not out of hand to re-strategize and end this ugly act.

The use of technology has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the perpetrators can arrested and prosecuted.

Another way out is to strengthen community involvement in security matters

That media campaigns be designed so that the populace be informed on what laws says on those found wanting

That NGOs, FBOs, CSOs be involved in the fight against kidnapping.

Most importantly, our security personnel be  equipped with state of the art facilities

We hope and pray that  criminality in our land will end. Amin
